Dogs can be our dearest friends. That’s why the unwitting purchase of an unhealthy pet can be so devastating. The state’s dog purchaser protection act states that sellers must provide the buyer with a health record for the dog at the time of sale. Seller must provide a health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 21 days prior to the date of sale, or a guarantee of good health issued and signed by the seller. This guarantee is not transferable to a third party. To preserve your rights, you must take your newly purchased dog to a licensed veterinarian for examination within 10 days of purchase. If an illness or defect is detected the buyer must notify the seller within 2 business days of the examination, and present to the seller written certification from the vet within 5 days from when the buyer receives it. Failure to do these will result and forfeiture of rights, refunds, or reimbursement. Neglecting to follow the previsions will void this guarantee. If within 30 days, the buyer decides for a non-medical reason they cannot keep their puppy, we are unable to physically repossess the puppy. Seller will offer to assist you in rehoming your puppy from your location.
If a veterinarian determines, within 10 days of purchase, that your dog is critically ill, has died from an injury sustained or illness likely to have been contracted before the puppy left the sellers property, or believes that the puppy is not of sound health, or if within 30 days of purchase the puppy dies from a congenital defect a necropsy (autopsy) must be performed at the buyer’s expense by a veterinarian to determine the cause of death. If the necropsy shows a congenital defect as the cause of death the buyer has the following options:
- Return the dog for a complete refund of the purchase price, or
- Return the dog for a replacement dog of equal value determined by seller, or
- Retain the dog and receive reimbursement for up to 90% of vet fees after the deductible through TruPanion Pet Insurance. NY Adoptions excluded.
Pennsylvania puppy law states that a seller must provide the option to retain the dog and a way to receive reimbursement for select veterinary fees not exceeding the purchase price of the puppy. Because we do not want the treatment your puppy receives to be limited to the purchase price, we arranged for your puppy to receive unlimited coverage up to 90% after the deductible is met by offering 30 Days of Free Pet insurance with your puppy! To receive compensation, you must activate your puppy’s pet insurance within 24 hours of bringing them home. Failure to activate your puppy’s insurance within 24 hours will void this guarantee entirely. If the buyer fails to activate the insurance the seller has no obligation to provide ANY compensation since the buyer neglected to take advantage of the means provided by the seller. Purchasing further insurance coverage after 30 days is the decision of the buyer and is not required by the seller. Refusal to activate the Trupanion puppy insurance within 24 hours is medical neglect. Above options do not apply where the seller has provided a health certificate issued by a veterinarian disclosing in writing at the time of sale a preexisting condition for which the buyer later seeks to be compensated. Pet insurance does not cover such conditions. NY Residents must contact Crow Woods Homestead directly to be eligible for compensation for select treatment not exceeding the purchase price of the puppy. If a buyer chooses to exchange the puppy for a puppy of equal or lessor value (value is determined by the breeder) the exchange is only valid within 6 months of the original puppy’s birthdate. Due to biosecurity, there may be times when we cannot physically repossess a puppy! If a puppy needs to be rehomed from the buyer’s location the seller can assist in locating the puppy a new home, however reimbursement may not be provided.

Nutrition is the most powerful influencer on a dog’s health outside genetics, we are confident that when good genetics and excellent nutrition are combined, a puppy will mature to their healthiest potential. For this reason, we offer a 1 Year Health Guarantee to individuals who agree to feed only PawTree Puppy food ordered exclusively through Crow Woods Homestead’s account using the information provided at the time of purchase to preserve rights listed in this guarantee. In order to ensure that PawTree puppy food was the main source of the puppy’s diet the seller will verify the buyer’s order history using Crow Woods Homestead’s account. If the buyer chooses not to continue to feed PawTree food to their puppy as the primary source of nutrition, they are choosing to forfeit the 1 Year Guarantee and are selecting only the 30 Day Guarantee. If the buyer’s order history indicated the puppy was fed only PawTree puppy food and the puppy dies within 12 months of its birth date from a congenital defect a necropsy (autopsy) must be performed at the buyer’s expense by a veterinarian to determine the cause of death. If the necropsy shows a congenital defect as the cause of death the buyer has the following option…
- The puppy will be replaced by a new Crow Woods Puppy of equal value at no charge to the buyer.
Initial: _______*If a said condition can be treated or managed, it is NOT considered a life-threatening condition and is not covered under this guarantee. A written statement from the buyer’s licensed veterinarian must be provided to the seller within 5 business days of performing the necropsy or this guarantee is void. The seller reserves the right to have any condition confirmed by a veterinarian of their choice. The buyer assumes all responsibility for any veterinarian bills incurred once the puppy leaves the premises of the breeder. When being reimbursed for a medical issue, the buyer must work directly with TruPanion Pet Insurance unless the buyer is a resident of NY. The seller is not required to reimburse the buyer for any veterinarian costs that would be associated with routine medical care of the puppy such as physical exam fees, booster shots, etc even if the puppy was taken to an emergency vet. Unless otherwise noted all puppies are sold strictly as family companions and do not come with breeding rights, the seller cannot guarantee the breeding, hunting, show ability, final adult weights, mature coat color, or eye color. Euthanizing your puppy will void this guarantee. If the puppy was delivered, the cost of delivery is not a refundable expense. If a buyer seeks to return a puppy, all costs associated with the return, or delivery of a replacement puppy will be the responsibility of the buyer. Due to the nature of puppies, internal and external parasites are not always covered in this guarantee and must be resolved through TruPanion Pet Insurance. The buyer acknowledges that all puppies carry the protozoa that causes coccidia and giardia and these parasites can become active under periods of stress such as going to a new home. Buyer and Seller both agree to the conditions of the guarantee set forth on this document. The breeder reserves the right to refuse to sell a future puppy to buyers who fail to fully complete all responsibilities required by this guarantee. This contract shall be deemed a legal and binding agreement between Seller and Buyer and is under the jurisdiction of the State of Pennsylvania in the County of Lancaster. It is further agreed that should any dispute/arbitration arise between the seller and buyer regarding said puppy, the legal venue shall be in the location selected by the seller. The 3% card charge is not refundable. Refunds for purchases made using a credit/debit card must be refunded to the same credit/debit card. Buyer will be held responsible for any and all costs with returned check, collections and/or attorney fees. Other than means to be reimbursed via provisions outlined in this guarantee, all payments are nonrefundable. HG1152025
