Joining Our Waiting List
We offer the opportunity to join our waiting list in situations where your perfect puppy has not yet been born.
Please contact us describing what you are looking for in terms of breed, gender, and color and we will let you know if we plan to have a puppy like it in the near future. The fee for joining the waiting list is $300, serving as a partially-refundable placeholder. If you choose to move forward with purchasing a puppy once a litter is born, the entire wait list fee will be applied to your puppy’s total. However, if you find a puppy elsewhere we are happy you have found another puppy who met your standards, and will refund you $200 upon request, retaining $100 to cover administrative costs associated with wait list management.
Our placement process follows a chronological order, guaranteeing that families who joined our list the earliest will take priority when making their selection. As the breeder we reserve the right to keep any puppy regardless of your place on the waiting list. Click below if you are ready to take the first step towards your future puppy, please be sure to specify that you would like to join the waiting list!
Reserving a Puppy
Placing a deposit is your way of showing us your commitment to providing a loving home to a current puppy when they are old enough to join you. We understand that choosing a new puppy is a big decision, and we strive to make the reservation process as flexible and accommodating as possible. While we do not require a deposit before you meet our puppies, we cannot hold a puppy for you without a deposit. Deposits are $500 ($545 with 6% sales tax and a 3% card charge) and unless otherwise specified are nonrefundable but transferable and will be applied to the total cost of your chosen puppy.
*If you are on our waiting list and decide to reserve a puppy you need only to place a $200 deposit as your $300 wait-list fee will be applied to your puppy’s cost!
We offer three reservation options to cater to your requirements!
Reserve a Specific Puppy:
Example A: “I would like to reserve ‘Frosty,’ the smallest male Bichon Frise in Megan & Cooper’s litter.”
Most likely you were searching for a puppy and found the best match listed on our website’s Puppies For Sale page!
Reserve a General Puppy:
Example A: “I would like to reserve a female Shih Tzu puppy from Natalie & Snickers’ litter and color does not matter. OR “I would like to reserve a sable & white Shih Tzu either male or female.”
Most likely you were on our waiting list or heard about an upcoming litter via our newsletter and decided to reserve a puppy before they were listed on our Puppies For Sale page!
Reserve Your Place in Line:
Example A: “I would like to have a Miniature Poodle puppy from Beauty & Crossfire’s litter and would like to be next in line to choose.”
In the case of reserving your place in line, you were not on the waiting list prior to whelping but you want to place a deposit to be next in line to choose. This is especially common with newborn litters, where features have not fully developed, and visitors are not permitted.
Transferable – Placing a deposit on a puppy guarantees that we will hold that puppy for you until the puppies are ready to leave. If after meeting our available puppies you decide that a different available puppy is a better match for you, you can transfer your deposit to any other available puppy. Deposits can be transferred to other litters as long as the deposit is reassigned within 6 months.
Why are Deposits Nonrefundable
At Crow Woods Homestead LLC, our nonrefundable deposit policy is crucial for maintaining responsible breeding practices. This deposit signifies the forever family’s commitment to adding a puppy to their home, discouraging impulsive decisions. When it comes to properly caring for our dogs and puppies we treat them like the beloved family members they are! Requiring a nonrefundable deposit helps defray initial costs associated with preparing the puppy for its new home, covering vaccinations, parasite prevention, veterinary care, and early nutrition, as well as prenatal care. When a potential purchaser reserves a puppy, we allocate resources and turn away other potential adopters, making it both challenging and expensive to locate another qualified home for the puppy while they are still at the best age to bond with their future family! A nonrefundable deposit is essential for our planning and the puppy’s well-being.
As a reputable breeder the last thing we want you to do is bring home a puppy you do not feel capable of caring for… In the event that you find yourself in a situation that renders you unable to follow through of your commitment at the present time, we will allow you to transfer your deposit to another puppy within 6 months of the date in which the deposit was placed. We offer this option to families who are experiencing an unforeseeable event that temoporarily impeeds their ability to follow through with a purchase. In all other cases the nonrefundable deposit helps us to mitigate the expenses, inconvenience, and potential loss we may incur as we invest more time and resources into finding a suitable home for the puppy.
Ultimately this policy ensures that our breeding practices prioritize the welfare of our puppies, while ensuring adopters are dedicated to providing a stable and loving forever home to our puppy. We encourage thoughtful consideration and honest family discussions with all members of the household before reserving a puppy, emphasizing the deposit as a reflection of a serious commitment to responsible pet ownership. When you are ready we would be happy to walk you through our deposit process!
Selecting A Puppy
We believe in transparency and providing our forever families with the utmost confidence in their puppy selection. Our selection process is designed to ensure that each home is paired with the perfect puppy. We offer multiple avenues for you to acquaint yourself with our available puppies before making your decision. Whether through photos, videos, or personal visits, our goal is to provide a comprehensive and enjoyable selection process, ensuring that the puppy you choose is the most compatible match for your family.
Professional Photography:
Explore our website, where we showcase a gallery of photos capturing the features and unique traits of each puppy. Additionally, we provide videos that offer a closer look at their antics and personalities, allowing you to witness their charm and energy in action.
In-Person Visits:
We welcome scheduled in-person
visits by appointment only Monday through Saturday. Come spend time
interacting with the puppies, observing their interactions with litter
mates, and getting a feel for their individual personalities.
Virtual Connection:
For families facing extreme distance or those who are interested in reserving a puppy who is still too young for visitors, we offer scheduled video calls via Zoom to allow all families to make an informed decision. Although video calls are convenient, we encourage in-person visits for a more meaningful connection and deeper understanding of a puppy’s temperament, by engaging with the puppies, witnessing their behavior, and ensuring a well-informed decision. We believe commitment is best reinforced through an in-person experience. However, we understand and strive to accommodate virtual interactions when necessary, ensuring everyone can be matched with the most compatible puppy.

Feel free to contact us to discuss your needs if you are unable to bring your puppy home within a week of their available date!
Training
Training is one of the elements of proper socialization and it plays a key role in a puppy’s early development. We prioritize the early development and well-being of our puppies and strive to meet certain goals by the age of 9 weeks. All our puppies are introduced to crate training and the initial concepts of potty training. While we offer these supports to build a positive habits and grow socially, the stress associated with transitioning from our home to yours can affect a puppy’s behavior and is often evident with temporary toileting setbacks and uncertainty especially when adjusting to a new sleeping area and schedule. Anticipate this and respond with consistency, your puppy will soon bond with your family and view you as their new pack.
Training is a major part of the bonding process and should be a positive and enjoyable experience for both you and your pup! While we do start puppies on crate and potty training, we don’t provide in-house training services. To support our families in their puppy’s ongoing training journey, we partnered with the nationally renowned Canine Trainer and Behavior Specialist, Donna Chandler and encourage all families to enroll their puppy in her Revolutionary Online Puppy & Dog Training Video Class which provides invaluable guidance for a lifetime of successful training which results in a harmonious relationship with your new furry companion!
Potty Training
Crate Training
We prioritize supporting the early foundational understanding of potty training. By 8 weeks of age, our puppies are introduced to the concept of designated areas for eating, sleeping, playing, and a separate area for relieving themselves.
Recognizing that each family may have their preferred potty training method, we keep our practices simple, building off their instincts to maintain sanitary quarters will allow puppies to easily apply their learned behaviors to different approaches in their new home. Whether your family opts for puppy pads, turf, litter, or the traditional outdoor walking method, the fundamental concept of a designated potty area remains consistent.
Our hope is to make your training process as easy and enjoyable as possible by providing your puppy with the basics before they leave!
Our crate training process is carefully designed to foster independence, provide security, and prepare for a seamless transition for our puppies when they join their new homes. Until they reach 8 weeks of age, our puppies are accustomed to sleeping in a large playpen alongside their mother and litter mates. After their 8th week those who are meeting all social and emotional developmental benchmarks transition to a ‘puppies only’ playpen. Sleeping with siblings provides a sense of security during this critical transition to a more independent lifestyle. This arrangement also maximizes valuable socialization opportunities, as the puppies learn essential social skills from their interactions with their siblings.
We understand that everyone has a different opinion when it comes to crating pets but, we ask you to set aside your beliefs towards crate training for a moment and liken a crate to a child’s crib – a safe and secure space for rest and relaxation when you can not directly supervise them. When your puppy spends their first night at your home, it marks a significant transition. Patience and consistency will be crucial, as the puppy adjusts to their new environment and builds a bond with you or your family.
Pick-Up or Delivery
While our puppies remain in our care until they are at least 8 weeks old, though many puppies join their new families between 9 and 14 weeks of age. We strongly encourage in-person pickups, as it offers a unique opportunity for both us as the breeder and you as the forever family to meet in person. An in person pick-up allows you to witness the environment your puppy was raised in, possibly meet any remaining litter mates and see the parents. We understand that in-person pickups may not always be feasible, so we offer three convenient delivery options at an additional charge tailored to your situation.
1. Pick up at our home in Pennsylvania
2. Ground Delivery to your Door
3. Ground Delivery to a Meeting Location
4. Flying the puppy to your Closest Airport
