“We recently had the pleasure of getting our Miniature Shih Tzu from Crow Woods Homestead LLC, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was not your typical dog breeder. The folks who operate the place, Hanna and Sam, run a first-class operation that is far from the Lancaster County Puppy Mills that often come to mind.”
– Jeff, Lancaster, PA
“I adopted my girl 4 years ago. I flew from FL to pick her up. Sam was very accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable. She was a healthy, easy going pup who grew up to be my best friend!
A year ago I went back to see Sam and adopted a little male Shih Tzu! He is a doll! Mommy’s boy! Cuddle bug. Sam has the best puppies!”
– Nicole, Florida
“We recently adopted our Shih Tzu puppy, Bella, from Crowwoods Homestead and couldn’t be happier. The team was incredibly helpful, providing us with a healthy, vet-checked puppy and a starter kit for Bella’s first few days. Their post-adoption support has been fantastic, answering all our questions and ensuring Bella settled in well. Their care for the puppies and support for new owners like us has been outstanding. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a Shih Tzu!”

Black
Brown/Liver/Chocolate
The breed standard refers to (bb) dogs as liver but it is also commonly referred to as chocolate or simply brown. To be a solid liver Shih Tzus must inherit at least one KB gene so no other colors are modifying the coat. Shih Tzus with a brown/chocolate/liver coat can be a bright copper color, a rich medium chocolate, or a brown so dark it can be challenging to distinguish a very dark chocolate from a black.
Blue
Blue is the color that occurs when a black puppy (BB or Bb) also inherits two copies of the dilute gene (dd). Blue is black diluted. It tents not to lighten with age, it is simply lighter to start. Blues can range in color from a smokey charcoal to a deep gun metal blue.
Liver/Chocolate/Brown Sable
Sable is a fur color that tends to lighten with age. The sable color appears like each individual hair is banded like a raccoon tail varying with brown and one other color. Chocolate Sable is a color where the base color is brown (bb) the nose, eye rims, and paw pads are brown. This makes the color bands on a Chocolate Sable puppy’s coat are brown. Brightness and intensity of the two browns banding the hairs can vary.
Black Sable
Sable is a fur color that tends to lighten with age. The sable color appears like each individual hair is banded like a raccoon tail varying with brown and one other color. Black Sable is a color where the base color is black (BB or Bb) the nose, eye rims, and paw pads are black. This makes the color bands on a Black Sable puppy’s coat are black. Brightness and intensity varies by the length of color sections on each hair shaft.
